UBA will celebrate its 180th birthday in October, and throughout all of those decades, we’ve been dedicated to strategically advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ—no matter what the circumstances. Even though our usual May meeting has been canceled, we still want you to hear the good work our ministries and subsidiary partners are doing to advance the gospel throughout Houston.
St. Patrick and a Missional Mindset
As we learn about the call of Maewyn Succat—better known as St. Patrick, let’s think about our call to Houston for “such a time as this.” We pray for specific UBA initiatives, local events, and various organizations God is using to advance his gospel throughout our city, state, and world.
Pastor, Seek Respite
This season of my life has been particularly straining. All good things, but good things still take their emotional toll. Ministry requires pastors who truly love their congregation, feel what they feel, hurt when they hurt, and grow weary when they grow weary.
My point here is not to commiserate. The spiritual oversight of souls is tough work, and those of us in ministry aspire to that work. Instead, I simply want to issue a plea: Pastor, seek respite. Use the resources available to you for the good of your ministry, your family, and your soul.
